Our alpine “Backcountry Explorer” holidays are exciting guided ski holidays in the Alps that combine lift accessed off-piste
skiing and day touring with the goal of providing the ultimate week of freeride adventure.
We've based these guided ski holidays in a combination of world renowned resorts and lesser known areas all of which offer
fantastic off-piste skiing and backcountry adventure.
On these trips you'll usually stay in the same chalet or hotel for 6 nights out of 7 and spend one night mid week in a high
altitude mountain hut. All our Backcountry Explorer trips have 5 guided days and 1 non-guided free ski day, usually at the end of
the week.
Like our Off-piste Adventure courses the Backcountry Explorer holidays are guided week-long ski courses led by our team of top
professional UIAGM Mountain Guides.
These holidays are ideal for experienced off-piste skiers and ski tourers who are looking for a week of challenging off-piste
and backcountry skiing with an average of about 2 hours of skinning each day.
If you’re looking for a holiday with more focus on lift accessed off-piste without so much skinning – check out our

NEW for 2011 is our Cat-skiing trip to Macedonia.
Snow-cats are the big track-driven vehicles that are used around the world for piste grooming and bashing. These can be
converted so that the cabin can take 10-12 passengers and used to take groups to the top of isolated, untracked slopes where they
can ski down again and again – using the ‘cat’ to return to the top each time. They are particularly popular in Canada as a more
cost-effective and reliable alternative to heliskiing. Now catskiing can also be enjoyed for the first time in Europe and we've
teamed up with the guys who run Eskimo Freeride in Macedonia to run this fantastic trip. For full details click on
