Our alpine Backcountry Explorer trips are exciting ski weeks that combine lift accessed off-piste skiing and touring with the
goal of providing the ultimate week of freeride adventure.
We've based these trips in a combination of world renowned resorts - Verbier, Val d'Isere - and lesser known areas - Val
Senales, Zinal - all of which offer fantastic off-piste skiing and day touring.
On these trips you'll usually stay in the same chalet or hotel for the duration with one night out in mountain hut.
We debated hard about the name for these courses before deciding on 'Backcountry Explorer'. The other options: 'day tours' - we
thought was rather misleading as we'll make use of mechanical lifts - and 'freeride' - another term that has a variety of meanings
including according to wikipedia '...a relatively new discipline of mountain biking'.

Val Senales Explorer (Beginner)

The Val Senales is a relatively unknown valley & ski area in the Southern Tirol on the border of Italy & Austria.
There is some excellent off-piste & ski touring terrain and it is the ideal destination for a week of outstanding
entry-level day touring from your unique base in the Schone Aussicht mountain cabin – a high mountain hut with a difference!
Portes du Soleil Explorer

The Portes du Soleil is an ideal destination for off-piste exploration! Its superb network of lifts eases the uphill effort
and means more time is spent on the downhill!
Introduction to Ski Touring

This is an introduction to Ski Touring course, with an emphasis on instruction and off piste skiing techniques. Our accommodation at the Auberge sur la Montagne gives us some quality recuperation and recovery as well as huge touring possibilities in Ste Foy, Les Arcs, La Rosière, Val d’Isère and Tignes.
Zinal Explorer

Everyone’s heard of Verbier and not surprising as its one of the best ski resorts in the world (which means it gets busy). What is surprising is that it’s surrounded by a collection of smaller less well known ski stations: Brusson, Vicheres, Champex, Super St Bernard to mention a few that offer fantastic off-piste and touring away from the crowds.
