Itinerary
The week begins with a welcome meeting in the chalet at around 7pm on the first evening with your your hosts in the chalet or a representative from Mountain Tracks. The first day is a warm-up day when no instruction is provided and your instructors will meet you in the evening for a short meeting to discuss the itinerary for the week and the prevailing weather and snow conditions.
The principal aims of this course are:
- To provide first class ski instruction from professional, friendly ski instructors to radically improve your off piste skiing technique and style
- To give practical mountain awareness training on the hazards and risks associated with skiing off-piste
- To provide the opportunity to ski the best off piste in the Sainte Foy area
Itineraries vary depending on the composition of the group and the weather and snow conditions.
About the Ski Area
The Val d’Anniviers comprise of the villages of Zinal, Grimentz, St Luc, Chandolin and Vercorin; combined they have over 200km of pisted terrain, lifts up to 3000m and vast areas of off piste to explore. These beautiful traditional villages remain relatively unspoilt by tourism and retain much of their traditional heritage. The skiing offers everything from high open bowls to some steep couloirs and gullys, many north and east facing, staying laden with cold powder snow. There are some classic descents to do in the area – the Moirey Dam, the north facing bowls of Orzival from the Grimentz lifts and the Chamois bowls in Zinal that gives up to 1500m of wonderful skiing. The bigger villages of Zinal and Grimentz offer a variety of restaurants, cafes and shops to explore and can be easily accesses from the Chalet using the post bus that runs regularly between all the villages.

Accommodation
Our groups stay in Chalet Edelweiss in the hamlet of Mottec, 2kms from Zinal. The chalet was fully restored in 2008 and offers very comfortable accommodation with 5 ensuite rooms. The chalet is owned by Eric and Penny Kendall. Penny is a whizz in the kitchen and meals are delicious!
What our clients say about our Zinal Off Piste Performance Plus courses
"Just a quick note to say I had another great week with Mountain Tracks!! The snow was great and Brian and Olly really looked after us . Eric and Penny were the most amazing hosts, Penny is a gourmet chef who went out of her way to keep us all happy even the fussy vegetarians! So I'm looking forward to my next trip which unfortunately might not be till next year, but then again you never know...!"
The trip was excellent in every way. Great chalet, very nice accommodation and splendid food. Hope they can keep up that standard. Claire was also excellent: enthusiastic, good teaching, patient and safety conscious. And we all had great fun, some of it at minus 20 deg.C. All in all I’d happily recommend Zinal, Chalet Edelweiss and Claire.
