Dave Meyer
I am a fully qualified BASI Level 4 ski instructor and have over 16 seasons under my belt teaching in Scotland, New Zealand, Italy and France. Over the last 5 years I have been based in Les Trois Vallées where I am now a partner in Sweet Snowsports.
I have spent much of my career involved in instructor training, specifically coaching and managing long-term development programmes for up-and-coming instructors.
Off-piste skiing is not only a skill but also an art! There is no one ‘do it all' method; instead you require a whole host of techniques that you can blend to suit conditions. A skier must be able to identify what will work best: on any venture beyond the poles this can vary almost turn to turn. All of this has to be backed up by an awareness of snow pack, terrain and safety kit that you need to move in the environment as safely as possible.
Away from the slopes I am a mountain leader and focus on guiding personal development expeditions or teaching my other passions of scuba diving and marine conservation around the world.
I am delighted to be joining Mountain Tracks and firmly believe their off-piste performance courses are the best way for you to learn to truly explore the mountains, whether as an off-piste aspirant or as someone wishing to develop and tune skills.
Putting in the effort is worth it in the end: the freedom and thrill of off-piste skiing and exploring the backcountry is second to none in rewards!
